Kanna: Elegant Antelope of the Savannah

The kanna, or common eland, is the largest antelope in the world, known for its elegant build, spiral horns, and calm demeanor. Found in Africa’s grasslands and savannahs, these herbivores are incredibly adaptable, thriving in both arid and lush environments. They graze on grasses, leaves, and fruits, playing a vital role in maintaining vegetation balance.

Elands are social animals, forming large herds that migrate in search of food and water. Despite their size, they are agile and capable of leaping over 6 feet to escape predators. However, habitat encroachment and hunting pose threats to their populations. Protecting elands is essential to preserving the savannah’s biodiversity and ensuring the survival of one of its most graceful inhabitants.
